SURA Arts Academy 2015 Winter/Spring semester

Wed, 03/11/2015 - 12:00am to 11:45pm

Sura is an Arabic word for photograph. The Arab American National Museum’s SURA Arts Academy – a 2008 winner of the prestigious Coming Up Taller Award from the President’s Committee on Arts and the Humanities – helps middle school students learn to interact with an increasingly diverse world.

The program offers the use of a digital camera and classroom instruction by AANM educators and teaching artists from Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Field trips and discussions are conducted in safe, welcoming environments, during academic-year and summer-camp sessions. Students then display their work each fall at the AANM.
