Recreational activities are held at the ACCESS gymnasium throughout the year and consist of youth, men’s and women’s sports, including: soccer, basketball, volleyball, martial arts and aerobics. The gym can also be rented throughout the week.

ACCESS to Health and Fitness is a comprehensive physical fitness program that serves 500 youths in kindergarten through sixth grade at five school sites throughout metro Detroit. The program also serves close to 50 parents and/or caregivers.
The program provides high quality settings that offer safe places for youth to engage in physical fitness activities, school-year supper and summer lunch programs, and nutrition education programming using evidence-based curricula, while providing new opportunities for physical activity and promoting community wellness.
Program components include daily physical education activities utilizing SPARK curriculum; a weekly nutrition program using the Healthy Kids Challenge curriculum; hot, nutritious meals through the United States Department of Agriculture; daily open gym times for youth; monthly family physical activity opportunities; and healthy cooking classes for parents using the “Share our Strengths Cooking Matters” curriculum.
