ACCESS and Art Van Furniture aid families devastated by August flooding in the Metro Detroit area

ACCESS has partnered with Art Van furniture and other nonprofit organizations across Metro Detroit to distribute brand new furniture to hundreds of families who were affected by severe flooding last August.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, ACCESS distributed much needed furniture to approximately 40 of its clients who were in dire need of replacement items. The distributiontook place at the ACCESS Youth and Family Services Center.

Other organizations participated in their own distribution including: Focus: HOPE, the American Red Cross and Jewish Family Services of Metropolitan Detroit.

“ACCESS is pleased to take part in such a noble cause.  We are grateful for this generous donation from Art Van,” said Hassan Jaber, executive director of ACCESS. “We are even more excited to join with other local organizations and make a greater impact by working together to serve many different communities. An overwhelming number of people suffered great loss from last summer’s flooding. Many of them are still working to recover. This is a small contribution to that process.”

Those who wish to donate toward the purchase of additional mattresses, furnaces and other vital appliances, can donate to the Focus: Hope Flood Relief donation page at www.focushope.edu/flood.
