Dearborn gets new community garden thanks to ACCESS Hope House

Youth volunteers help with digging, planting

ACCESS Hope House members and ACCESS youth volunteers toiled in the soil this spring to plant the center’s first community garden.

Hope House members, adults with a history of mental illness, worked together with the youth to dig up the ground near the front corner of the Hope House parking lot, create planting beds and plant flowers and vegetables.

Members planted a row of cheery sunflowers along with vegetables and fruits, including watermelon, tomatoes, peppers, squash, zucchini, cantaloupes, strawberries, herbs and more!
