ACCESS to host Comedienne Suzie Afridi at 47th Annual Dinner

ACCESS is delighted to announce that Comedienne Suzie Afridi will join us to open our 47th Annual Dinner program that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm, at the esteemed Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

Afridi will perform a brand-new monologue—created specifically for the ACCESS Annual Dinner—that will lend levity and humor to issues that Arab Americans often face.   This must-see routine will set the tone for an evening of celebration, honoring the achievements of Arab Americans.

Based in Manhattan, Afridi’s comedy gives perspective on Arab American issues from the lens of a Palestinian mother, raising her son in the U.S., alongside her Pakistani husband.  Afridi has garnered attention through her blog, “SuzieSaysSo,” where she periodically entertains her followers by channeling her sharp sense of humor. She was a featured presenter at ACCESS’ landmark MOVE convening last November.

ACCESS is also pleased to host, for the first time as co-emcee, WDIV Channel 4 News Anchor Sandra Aliwho will join emcee Gerald W. Smith on stage to present our highly anticipated program. An Egyptian American, Ali has amassed an impressive number of on-air gigs over the past decade. In 2013, she became an anchor for WDIV and went on to host its ongoing “Arab In America” series, highlighting Arab American culture in metro Detroit.

The ACCESS Annual Dinner is the largest event of its kind in the country and attracts more than 2,000 guests. This event highlights the inspiring stories of those we serve and celebrates the wonderful individuals who impact others through their service, every day.

Join ACCESS as we celebrate 47 years of service, From the Neighborhood to the Nation, with our friends and supporters, which include local, state and national officials and leaders from business, labor and nonprofit organizations.
