When Iesha Morgan was laid off as an H&R Block tax consultant two years ago, she said she felt like she hit rock bottom.
After going on the welfare rolls, she started preparing taxes for about 100 former clients out of her Detroit house, but couldn’t join a tax preparation business because of a two-year no-complete clause with H&R Block.
When the two-year mark was approaching, she decided to start her own tax service, but didn’t know where to start.
That start was through ACCESS’ Growth Center for its Immigrant Entrepreneur Development Program, which accepted a $50,000 check from Fifth Third Bank on Nov. 26.
