ACCESS, local high school students join ‘Get Covered America’ campaign to raise awareness about new health care options/encourage community enrollment.

DEARBORN, MI – On Saturday, October 26, ACCESS staff and volunteers, including local high school students, will be participating in a door-to-door canvass in Dearborn as part of the Get Covered American campaign to talk with friends and neighbors ensuring uninsured Michiganders know about the new health insurance plans and financial assistance that is available to them through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

ACCESS is one of four Navigators chosen by the State of Michigan to enroll individuals and small business owners in affordable healthcare through the Federal Government’s Health Insurance Marketplace as part of the Affordable Care Act. The organization is partnering with Enroll America in the canvassing initiative as part of Get Covered America’s national “Treat Yourself to Coverage Weekend,” which has thousands of volunteers across the country knocking on doors, tabling at community events, and working with the faith community to spread the word about the new Marketplace that opened on Oct. 1.

The media is invited and encouraged to attend this event. Those interested can meet organizers at ACCESS no later than noon as canvassing groups will be leaving ACCESS to head out into the community.
