Asthma Program

The asthma program is designed to educate and increase awareness of asthma among Arab Americans. Public health employees visit schools and teach students how to control the severity of their asthma symptoms, how to handle asthma attacks, and prevent triggers for attacks.

Program Goals

  • Raise awareness for asthma management
  • Teach mechanisms for the prevention of asthma attacks for students and parents

  • Educating students, families and teachers
  • Providing counseling and referral services
  • Developing bilingual materials on asthma management and triggers
  • Creating a bilingual booklet (Asthma Awareness & Control) to distribute among students and their families
