Cardiovascular Program

The cardiovascular program promotes awareness through cardiovascular health education and by designing and implementing projects that help reduce heart disease and stroke risk factors (high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, lack of physical activity, obesity, stress, etc.) among the community.

Program Goals

  • Improve the community’s cardiovascular health status by decreasing morbidity and mortality
  • Encourage and support lifestyle modifications among community members (healthy eating, physical activity and tobacco-free living)
  • Increase community access to healthcare facilities

Program Services

  • Education: Providing seminars, workshops, presentations, media (TV, radio, magazines, newspapers, websites), bilingual informative materials (brochures, fliers, fact sheets, pamphlets)
  • Direct services: Offering home visit screenings (blood sugar and cholesterol testing, blood pressure measurements, BMI assessment, counseling and referrals)
  • Research: Identifying major community concerns in cardiovascular health to design the appropriate strategies and plans to ensure effective prevention and management
