The Developmental Disabilities programming at ACCESS offers support to people who suffer from developmental disabilities in their communities. An emphasis on human dignity and a conviction that each person is unique and capable of growth are the cornerstone beliefs of program staff.
Program Goals
- Help clients achieve their overall personal potential in the areas of educational, vocational, social, and recreational skills
- Help families and relatives better adjust to clients’ conditions making them more effective caregivers
- Stabilize clients’ emotional and mental status while decreasing their need for hospitalization or residential placement
- Help clients become more self-sufficient and improve their social and communication skills, which can have a positive impact on their everyday life
